The Sales Pitch!
It's September in Chicagoland - we could see snow next month! Why not get behind the wheel of this mechanically sound, V8 powered, luxury SUV (well, luxury in '04 anyway) and turn on the seat heaters to stay warm and between the lines on the icy road through the winter? The scratches and dents (and one decent gouge) just add character, right?
This is also a perfect vehicle for a new driver! This is a body-on-frame or full-frame vehicle, meaning it shares the DNA of a truck (unlike most mid size SUV's being produced now, which are glorified cars / minivans). Coupled with the wonderful reliability of the GM LS 5.3 V8 this is a great all around vehicle the kids can drive to high school during the week and you could use to tow a small trailer or boat on the weekends for projects and fun. And it won't be a terrible eyesore sitting in the driveway either.
The automatic transmission was rebuilt by the previous owner by a shop in Aurora in early 2016 at approx 130,000 miles just after they purchased the vehicle. It then came to our shop for other repairs and needed a host of steering and suspension work, tires, brakes, etc. They were done spending money on it and wanted to sell it cheap, so I purchased the vehicle and fixed it up for an elderly family member. I can provide the full list of repairs that were made when you come inspect the vehicle. He had been driving and taking good care of it until this spring when he was no longer able to operate a vehicle.
The vehicle sat for the last few months until the decision was made to sell it. I replaced the battery (brand new Interstate MT-78), the transfer case actuator, and cleaned up the brake rotors from corrosion that occurred while sitting. The automatic A/C still blows ice cold, all modes work properly, and the engine runs strong. It rides smooth and the transmission shifts properly. The fully automatic AWD system is working correctly and there are no warning lights on the dash. I am not aware of any major mechanical issues this vehicle has. The Goodyear Wrangler tires all measure between 8/32" to 9/32" tread depth and are in very good condition.
The Not So Good...
There are a couple cosmetic issues: The previously mentioned 'gouge' on the passenger side of the hood and front quarter panel, the broken driver side tail light housing which has some water inside, and the missing second 'i' in Rainier (now it says Rain er) on the rear gate. Also the cover for the display which operates rear climate control / radio is not missing, BUT the display and the controls all function properly, including the rear HVAC controls.
All in all.
With nearly 150,000 miles on the odometer this vehicle is not showroom new (as you should expect). There are plenty of little nicks, scratches, and dings on the body so please don't bother wasting time pointing this stuff out. If a safe, reliable, affordable vehicle with some nice creature comforts are your main priorities AND you can overlook some basic cosmetic 'aging', this might be a great choice for your next SUV.
Text or call during reasonable hours. Cash payment only. Don't message and ask if I still have it. And scammers, I probably have a bit too much time on my hands when it comes to messing with you - so I'd suggest finding someone else to screw with. Everyone else - have a great day and thanks for looking!
