Hello, railfans. Got a stalled project here I thought I'd offer up and see if anyone is interested. 48" x 30" foam framed with oak. All track fastened down except siding and curved area over the gully (think wooden trestle). Track has been tested numerous times. Made with vintage Atlas track, this layout actually runs better than my big layout with the Kato unitrack.
My theme is an Old West mining layout. The main town is in the upper right corner, with an interchange track off to "parts unknown". The short siding is for a supply dock in the mining camp. The longer one crosses the gully into the mountains where the mine is (I was thinking of converting an old coal tower to be the head house). The top of the mountain is removable to access the tunnel trackage.
Included will be two old time passenger coaches, two box cars, and your choice of locomotive. I have a Bachmann 4-4-0 in need of work, or a brand new Kato chassis in need of a body. I have another steam loco available, but it is untested as of yet. I will include one cabin, a depot, and several old west store front type buildings. Not all structures shown in the photos will be included. There is a power pack.
I've painted the whole thing an earth tone. The pink foam was really jacking my creativity. My plans for scenery are to simply glue on some traction sand for the base, then add some sparse ground cover. I have a backdrop planned involving a sheet of hard board and some blue paint. I'm kinda low key that way.
The price I'm asking covers the materials and details, but If I were to charge for my time the price would double. Negotiations in person only, please. If there's no immediate interest, I'll keep working and the price will increase accordingly. The layout is available for inspection in North Aurora IL evenings 7-9, and weekends subject to my schedule.
Number listed is my work phone. Text or leave a message, but please be patient for a response. I get quite busy at work.
Thanks for looking.
