Civil War 14th Reg't Lt. Infantry Field Drum Mfd. By William Kilbourn
This civil war field drum is missing the original ropes and straps, but the wooden shell is sound and the original paperwork from the manufacturer is still affixed inside. This drum depicts an American Eagle with shield surrounded by stars, the 14th Regiment Lt. Infantry unit would have marched bravely into battle to the rhythmic beat.
The 14th Regiment was organized on May 3rd, 1861 on the orders of the President Abe Lincoln and became part of the Army of the Potomac. This regiment fought at Antietam, Chancellorsville, Wilderness , Petersburg and Gettysburg.
This drum in its current condition is an historic decorative item, but could be restored to its full glory if desired.
The dimensions are 24" diameter x 17" deep.
